Atrial ectopic tachycardia (AET), a type of supraventricular tachycardia, is often difficult to differentiate from sinus tachycardia. This article provides information on how to make this important distinction and offers a relevant case report of a 12-year-old boy who was diagnosed with mild congestive heart failure as a result of an exacerbation of his AET. Symptoms of AET as well as medical and surgical treatment options are also discussed.
